getting back to art-ing
Starting “again” is scary; it’s clunky and doesn’t feel right, and you know because you remember what it felt like when it is right. I haven’t sketched in earnest in over 20 years. Sure, I’ve doodled and noodled here and there, I’ve attempted some inktober’s (as you can see my early images on this account) but a regular practice has eluded me. I haven’t touched watercolours in earnest since high school, and then tried again only recently this year at some weekly Art Hives.
This is unfinished. A first attempt at some inspiration from a photo I took a week or so ago. I came into it with an idea of what I wanted to do with the watercolour - and well - this is nowhere near it. I found myself working with it too much. Too much water. Too much pigment. Too much tinkering with areas I wasn’t happy with. It’s like cooking: STOP TOUCHING IT AND LET IT SIT.
So now I’m determined to salvage this somehow with some inking. That was always the intention, but it’s just so NOT what I wanted it to be. 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝟎𝟏 of a regular practice is off to a smashing start 🤙.
